Week Commencing 3rd September 2018

Welcome back to the new academic year.

I hope that everyone has had a relaxing holiday and returns to school and work feeling refreshed.

The staff and I are looking forward to welcoming all our pupils and their families back to school. We particularly extend a warm welcome to our new families and hope that they soon feel very much part of our school family.

During the first two days of this week staff have under taken training. On Monday all staff are travelling to St Ambrose school in Altrincham for an Inset with other Edmund Rice Prep school staff. The Inset will be led by Dr Jonathan Kelly and looks at how the brain functions and how this affects how we learn and therefore teach.

On Tuesday we will be undertaking In-house training and preparation for the new school year.

School opens on Wednesday 5th September with Breakfast club open as usual at 7-45am.

During the first three days of term we will be ‘off timetable’ giving pupils the opportunity to settle in and become familiar with new routines. The theme for this term is based around ‘The Wind in the Willows’, which is the Christmas production at the New Vic theatre this year.

Our charity for the year is the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust which picks up the theme of caring for Nature and the environment and runs alongside all that we will be doing based on Mr Toad, Ratty, Mole and the other animals.

On Friday, children who are timetabled for PE/Games will be having these lessons despite being ‘off timetable’ and will need to bring their Games kits. Timetables will be distributed during the first day of term and are available in the red School Diary for children from PP1-P6. The EYFS will be given a copy of their timetable and PE lessons.

We look forward to the beginning of another busy term.
