Week Commencing 7th December 2018

The Christmas season has certainly begun here at St Joseph’s Prep.

Our Posada figures have been travelling around on their journey to Bethlehem and have been staying with different members of our school family. Each day they have been welcomed and used as a focus for prayer and thought as we together travel through Advent.

Thank you to everyone who is contributing to our ‘Reverse Advent’; we have a list of items to be brought in daily as part of our’ giving instead of receiving’ this Advent. The food items will be taken to ‘Open Door’ to be distributed to those less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas.

Cheeku the Elf has arrived and is up to all sorts of mischief around the school, we look out for his daily escapades!

We had a great party on Thursday with plenty of pizza, prizes and fun and a message from a very busy Santa who was busy peeling sprouts for Mrs Claus!

The week ahead sees more Christmas celebrations:

  • On Monday 10th December we are attending St Teresa’s Church for our Advent Mass led by Father Michael. This Mass is for Pre Prep One to Prep Six. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend. Mass begins at 1-30 pm.
  • On Tuesday morning, 11th December our EYFS Department will be visiting the New Vic theatre for the ‘Wind in the Willows Tale Trail’. Children to be in school please by 08.40am for morning registration.
  • The Pre Prep and Reception Department will be holding their Dress Rehearsal in readiness for their Nativity Play.
  • On Wednesday 12th December Miss Kent will be at ‘Woodeaves’ in Altrincham at the Edmund Rice Office to take part in an Advocacy Workshop.
  • On Thursday 13th and Friday 14th December we are pleased to invite you to the Pre Prep and Reception Nativity play. The play begins at 2pm in the school Hall. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend. Please be aware that parking is quite restricted on Rookery Lane and we would ask that you are mindful of the local residents as you park.

I trust that as we travel through Advent you have some quiet time to reflect upon the true meaning of Christmas.

We are pleased the ‘Every Day is an Open Day’. Please call the School Office for an appointment.
