Week Commencing 30th November 2018

What a super end to last week with our visit to the New Vic, which really brought together all the work we have been doing this term around ‘Wind in the Willows’. As ever the production and interpretation of the story was superb and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The children were all excellent ambassadors for the school.

This week sees the beginning of Advent, which is an important season of the Church and also in the life of our school.

This year we have our own Posada figures, kindly donated by Mrs Weston. Previously Mrs Weston brought in Posada figures for a day in school as they ‘journeyed’ around her church family; this year we have our own figures to ‘journey’ around the school family. We are very grateful to Mrs Weston for her kind donation and thought.

The Posada is a Mexican tradition and sees an enactment of Mary and Joseph travelling to Bethlehem; as they travel they arrive at different homes where at first they are unrecognised and turned away. Once the Holy Couple are recognised they are welcomed into the home with a meal and celebrations.

For us we have figures of Mary and Joseph which we would like to ‘travel’ around our school family. The idea is that you welcome the Holy Family into your home as they ‘journey’ to Bethlehem during Advent. The Posada comes with an introduction and prayers for your family to say. It is hoped that on the night that the Holy family is with you that you are able to place them in a suitable place in your home.

Children have been asked if they would like to have the Posada and names will be drawn out of a hat as I imagine it will be a popular activity.

I hope that our Posada helps you and the children in the school to take time to focus on the real meaning of Christmas.
The coming week sees the Christmas trees going up in school.

On Monday we are pleased to welcome Miss Biggs into school to work with Mrs Macdonald and the PP2/PP1 children as she prepares to join us in the New Year.
Reports will be issued on Monday, these give an overview of the term thus far, a review of Targets and new Targets set in Literacy and Numeracy.

On Tuesday and Wednesday Miss Biggs will be in school.to work with PP1/PP2

Thursday 6th December is our Christmas party. Children are asked to bring their party clothes and a small amount of spending money. We are all set to party!!

On Friday we have a quieter day with preparations for the Christmas concerts underway.

We are looking forward to our school journey towards Christmas.
