Week Commencing 8th October 2018

Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to our Harvest Festival. We had two celebrations, one led by the EYFS and Pre Prep 1 which continued the theme of ‘Awe and Wonder’ -thanking God for his wonderful Creation.

Our second Harvest celebration was led by Father Michael Glover, the new Parish Priest at St Teresa’s. At the end of the Service we were able to present our Harvest produce to a representative from Age UK (Staffs).

Donations were also given to Edmund Rice Development, CAFOD and our Charity for last year the Kabanda Trust.
We were pleased to welcome a representative from CAFOD into school to lead our Friday assembly on CAFOD Family Fast day. Our children had the opportunity to consider the impact of poverty on the life of others when we all forfeited mid-morning break in favour of a piece of bread. During some quiet reflection time we thought about those less fortunate than ourselves and prayed for justice in the world.

On Tuesday 9th October we are welcoming Tom Murray from the Edmund Rice Education team to come into school and begin work with our Prep 6 children towards their Edmund Rice Awards. During this course of study, they consider a variety of topics around Social Justice, Equality and Peace.

On Wednesday 10th October we have our ‘Movie Night’ which commences after school. The film this time is ‘Hotel Transylvania’. Tickets, including popcorn, a bag of sweets and drinks are £7-50 and can be purchased from Vicky Brittleton (PTA) by Monday 8th October.

On Wednesday evening myself and the Deputy Chair of Governors, Mr Harding fly out to Dublin for the annual Edmund Rice Schools Heads and Chairs Conference.

We remain in Ireland travelling to Waterford over the weekend to ‘Walk in the Footsteps of Blessed Edmund Rice’.
During the week I am pleased to be showing visitors around the school and take this opportunity to welcome the new families who have joined us during the past week.

‘Every day is an Open Day’, please make an appointment to view the school.
