Early Years Department - the leading Nursery in Stoke-On-Trent

Nursery and Reception

The Early Years are critical in a child's development and so we provide a stimulating and high quality early years environment. Within a structured program of play and learning activities, the social, emotional, moral, physical and intellectual needs of every child are met. St Joseph's Preparatory School Early Years Department contains two classes, Nursery and Reception. We are proud to be a leading nursery in Stoke-on-Trent.

We understand how important it is to choose the right nursery, we feel we offer something very different to other nurseries in Stoke-on-Trent and that is the Catholic ethos we employ.

The Early Years Department is a special place, where imagination comes alive, talents are nurtured and friendships are fostered. It is a happy vibrant place where your child's days are filled with fun and laughter.

The Curriculum Framework in the Nursery covers language and literacy skills, early number skills, personal and social development, physical development, creative development, religious education and information technology. The Curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework recommended by the DCSF. The children in the Early Years Department are also introduced to French and are encouraged to sing, speak and enjoy this new language. There is a maximum intake of 32 children into the nursery with three qualified early years practitioners ensuring attention to all. The Reception class is taught by a qualified teacher with early years specialism, assisted by an Early Years practitioner.
