The Staffordshire Future Journalists Competition

On the 14th February the Prep Department took part in Staffordshire’s Future Journalists Competition. Journalism students from Staffordshire University inspired the children to write an ‘Opinion’ piece on their favourite subject.

"Today the winners of the Staffs Future Journalist Award were announced at our awards ceremony held at Staffordshire University.

The Lord Mayor Anthony Munday, Councillor Abigail Brown and BBC Radio Five Live report Peter Slater were some of the guests in attendance, as children came together from across Staffordshire to celebrate their success.

BBC News broadcaster Clive Myrie also sent in a special message from Northern Nigeria explaining how he became an award winning journalist.

The winners were given their own trophies as well as being given a tour of the Staffs Live newsroom. They will also be given their own journalism kits and have a chance to become news reporters at an event next month.
