Week Commencing 19th March 2018

On 19th March we celebrate the Feast day of the Patron Saint of our school Saint Joseph.

Everything we know about the husband of Mary and the foster father of Jesus comes from Scripture. We know he was a carpenter, a working man. He was not a rich man for when he took Jesus to the Temple to be circumcised and Mary to be purified he offered the sacrifice of two turtledoves or a pair of pigeons, allowed only for those who could not afford a lamb (Luke 2:24). Despite his humble work and means, Joseph came from a royal lineage. Luke and Matthew both mention his descent from David, the greatest king of Israel (Matthew 1:1-16 and Luke 3:23-38). Indeed, the angel who first tells Joseph about Jesus greets him as "son of David," a royal title used also for Jesus. We know Joseph was a compassionate, caring man.

We will be celebrating St Joseph’s Feast Day with a special Mass led by Father Rob on Monday 19th March at 1-30pm in St Teresa’s Church. You are most welcome to attend and celebrate with us.

The week ahead is a busy one as we continue our journey through Lent.

On Tuesday we have our first Parents Evening. (If you would like an appointment but have not yet made one please contact Mrs Pickford)

On Wednesday we have Tom Murray in school to work with P6 as they continue working towards their Edmund Rice Award.
Wednesday is also Prep 4’s fund raising day. It is also our second parents evening.

On Thursday we have a busy day with some members of the school taking part in Bikeability; some member of the school taking part in the Recorder Festival at the Victoria Hall and some members accompanying Mr Ferris on a Sports meet –a busy day!

Thursday is also the third of our Parents evenings.

On Friday members of Prep 5 will be undertaking Bikeability.

During the week we are pleased to be welcoming children for Taster days and are always happy to be showing prospective parents around school.
We do recommend that if you would like a place in our Early Years department for the academic year 2018/2019 that you register now. Please contact the main office.
