Week Commencing 12th February 2018

Dear Parents,

We are heading into the season of Lent. Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday.

Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the ritual of shriving that Christians used to undergo in the past. In shriving, a person confesses their sins and receives absolution for them. Shrove Tuesday is also a day of celebration as well as penitence, as it is the last chance to indulge and eat up food that is not allowed in

Lent. Traditionally observant Christians would have given up meat and fish, fats, eggs and milky foods.

On Tuesday we will be having our traditional pancake races during lunch time.

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the school from Reception to Prep 6 will be attending Mass as we open the season of Lent and enter a time of fasting and prayer.

This week we are off time table as we focus on PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education). This year our focus is around the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice.

On Monday the EYFS are out at the Peak Wildlife Park. We also have a PTA meeting at 3-40pm on Monday, followed by a Governors meeting.

On Tuesday the School Nurse is in to give a Puberty talk to Prep5 and 6.
Our Lollipop man is also coming into school on Tuesday to talk to the EYFS about the job he does.
On Tuesday afternoon the school will be getting together to focus and understand more fully the different parts of the Mass.
We wish the U9 Rugby team ‘Best Wishes ’as they play Edenhurst. Kick-off 3-45 at Trentham Rugby Club.

On Wednesday, as I mentioned earlier, we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday Mass as St Teresa’s Church at 1-30pm. You are most welcome to attend.
It may also be worth mentioning that it is Valentine’s Day on Wednesday – just in case you need a gentle reminder to purchase something for your loved one!!
Thursday - Swimming as usual for Prep 3 and Prep 4.

We are pleased that Mr Hood is recovering well and we continue to keep him in our prayers.

We break up for half term on Friday 16th February.

School reopens on Monday 26th February.
