Week Commencing 5th February 2018

Here we are in February. I wonder if you have managed to see the super ‘blue moon’ over the past couple of nights and into the early morning. It has been spectacular.

Signs of Spring appear to be on the way - the Nature club and I are busy ‘bird watching’ for the RSPB ‘Great Garden Bird Watch’ we have seen woodpigeons, magpies, chaffinches and long tailed tits around the school. We heard a robin but could not see it. We are trying our best to develop our ornithology skills!
3rd February is the feast day of St Blaise, traditionally this day is for the blessing of throats - we prayer for anyone who has throat problems at this time.
Last week the Cross Country team enjoyed a cold and muddy day at Bedstone College, although no medals were won, our team worked hard and we are very proud of them. Well done.

This week the Netball team are out at Fenton Manor for the Staffordshire U11 High 5 Netball tournament on Tuesday 6th February.

Tuesday is also ‘Safer Internet Day’ with a focus on being safe when using the Internet, this is something which we take very seriously in school. Mr Hood always begins the year with a Safer Internet presentation to all children. It is something which we talk to the children about throughout the year. We will be picking up on the theme ‘Safer Internet Day’ during our assembly.

On Wednesday please keep Mr Hood and Mr Kent (Miss Kent’s Father) in your prayers as both are due to have surgery. Mr Hood will be out of school until after half term. We place them both in God’s safe keeping.

On Thursday we have PTA film night, this time we are watching ‘Paddington 2’. Booking forms are available in the school foyer. The film will end at 6pm and children can be collected as normal from the playground.

On Friday afternoon Mr Smith will be working with staff at Trentham Academy as we share good practice in Literacy.
