May 05

Week Commencing 8th May 2017

We enjoyed celebrating Blessed Edmunds Rice’s Feast Day on 5th May; thank you to Father Rob and Prep 5 for leading our Mass.

Edmund Rice was called by God to show His mercy and grace to those suffering injustice and poverty in Ireland. Edmund’s response to God’s call came at a personal cost; but he listened and followed and as a result we have the legacy of the Edmund Rice Network today.

St Joseph’s Preparatory School is part of this World Wide Family.

We pray this weekend for all those people who feel that they have a vocation that they may explore and follow God’s call to them. The 7th May is Vocation Sunday and we do pray for Vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

We are pleased to welcome back Mr Salt and Miss Kent who have just been at the Universal Periodic Review in Geneva. The Brothers, as part of Edmund Rice International, are campaigning for the rights of the Homeless, for Food Banks and for the Human Rights of Refugees. Mr Salt and Miss Kent had the opportunity to watch various countries talk about their response to Human Rights, which I believe was very interesting. More details on this to follow….

Mr Salt and Miss Kent will be talking to the children about their experiences as part of the work we began earlier in the year on Human Rights and Children’s Rights.

Next week we have a quiet diary with lots of Curriculum work being undertaken.

Staff are conducting Peer to Peer Reviews

There will be an opportunity for children to say the Rosary with me during the week.

I am continuing to show prospective parents around the school and I am always happy to do this as here at St Joseph’s ‘Every Day is an Open Day’ and visitors are most welcome to visit - please contact Mrs Pickford in the Office should you wish to make an appointment.

Free 15 or 30 hours EYFS Education Places are available for Under 5’s from September 2017; call the School Office for details and application forms.
