Week Commencing 24th April 2017

Welcome back and a particularly warm welcome to all the new pupils and their parents who are joining us this term. I hope that everyone has had a very Happy Easter.

We ended the term thinking about Holy Week ;our final ‘Reflection’ involved all the children taking a ribbon and tying it to a metre tall cross which we then erected in the playground-the ribbons represented Jesus sacrifice on the cross because of His love for us all.

Now the red ribbons are gone and have been replaced with flowers representing the new life Jesus offers in His Resurrection. We hope that this colourful symbol helps us to think about the Resurrections story as we start this new term.
School opens to Examination week. All Pre Prep and Prep children will be undertaking examinations in the Core subjects and French during the week. The core subject examinations are then externally marked; staff will feed back to parents in the Summer reports.

There are no extracurricular clubs this week.

During the week we are pleased to welcome Tom Murray( Edmund Rice Network), into school to work with the Prep 6 children as they begin the final pieces of work to complete their ‘Edmund Rice Awards’.
Members of staff are continuing Professional development in First Aid and Safeguarding throughout this week.

On Friday we will be holding our May Day assembly led by P3. Parents are most welcome to attend as P3 lead our procession around school as we honour our Blessed Lady. Children are invited to bring flowers to adorn Mary as we pray and celebrate; these flowers are them distributed to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice to brighten their wards with flowers and our prayers and love.

On Friday we are also very pleased to welcome back to school Jazmin Sawyers, Rio Olympian 2017 for Long Jumper and recently having performed on ‘The Voice’. Jazmin is one of our ex pupils who was educated at St Joseph’s Prep from the Nursery Class to Prep 6. She has very kindly agreed to find time in her very busy schedule to return and officially open our Climbing Wall. We are very pleased to welcome Jazmin back to St Joseph’s.

Please do not forget that it is May Day on 1st May so school will not be open on Monday 1st May.

Free 15 or 30 hours EYFS Education Places are available for Under 5’s from September 2017; call the School Office for details and application forms.
