Blog for Easter

The last week of the Spring term was a busy one as we prepared for Easter.

We are very grateful to all the children and their parents who have supported our Lenten fund raising activities; the final total is yet to be announced. All monies raised are distributed amongst the charities we support throughout the year-this year we are supporting the British Heart Foundation as well as the Edmund Rice Network and CAFOD.

Whilst we are not in school during Holy Week we have had time to reflect upon Jesus journey to the Cross.

Staff and children from Reception to Prep 6 attended a Lenten Mass led by Father Rob Taylerson.

Children in Prep 5 and Prep 6 said the Station of the Cross with Father Rob; this year Father came to school to bless and say the Stations, using some beautiful new images that we have in school which depict Jesus Passion.

All children have reflected upon Jesus example of service to others as we re-enacted Jesus washing His disciple’s feet.

Each week during Lent we have had some Reflection time every Friday to consider the sacrifice that Jesus made and our response. On the last Friday of term our reflection was around the Cross; everyone was given a red ribbon to represent the suffering of Jesus, which we then attached to a metre high Cross for display outside. This enabled us all to think about Jesus sacrifice on the Cross on Good Friday.

The Cross will remain in place throughout the holiday and on our return to school we will decorate it with fresh flowers as we celebrate Jesus victory over sin and death, His Resurrection and His promise of New Life.

The children in the Pre Prep enjoyed themselves when they did the ‘Easter Bunny Hunt’; several sightings of said rabbit were reported!!
Thank you to everyone who made an Easter bonnet; what a lovely and colourful time we had at our Easter Bonnet parade.

Other activities we enjoyed were the Sponsored spell and the ‘Jar Tombola’.

The staff and I hope that you have a very peaceful and enjoyable Easter. We wish you joy in the promise of the Risen Lord.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 24th April. This will be our Examination week. We will be in the Summer term and hope that the weather will be suitable for summer uniforms to be worn by mid-May.
