We had a very interesting week last week concentrating on Children’s Rights. We ended the week looking at Article 28-the Right to Education-as we celebrated ‘World Book Day’. Thank you to everyone who made such an effort to create their favourite book character. It was super to hear about the range of books that children and staff enjoy.
This week sees our Lenten Fund raising activities begin with Prep 6. Each class has the opportunity to run stalls and activities for four days to raise money for our Lenten charity-this year The British Heart Foundation. Children are invited to bring in a small amount of money to take part in the activities- I suggest no more than 50 pence. This is purely voluntary and children can choose to take part.
Each Friday we have a time of quiet Reflection as we journey with Jesus to the Cross.
On Tuesday the EYFS department are going to Stockley Farm. Prep 3 are also out as they are taking part in a singing workshop at the Victoria Hall led by Lichfield Cathedral Music department. There is a PTA meeting in the school Resource room at 3-30pm on Tuesday afternoon, all parents and carers are welcome to attend to support the PTA.
On Wednesday Mr and Mrs Otter are in school to work with Prep 5, investigating Pottery and clay and showing how a pot is ‘thrown’.
On Thursday Prep 5 and Prep 6 are meeting the School Nurses for a talk on ‘Growing up and Puberty’.
On Friday it is CAFOD Family fast day, we will be asking the school community to give up their break time in favour of a piece of bread, to help us consider what it may be like to have only the bare minimum to eat. We ask that children and staff bring in one pound in exchange for the piece of bread, which is part of our fund raising for CAFOD.
In the EYFS we will be sending home a fish template and asking the children and parents to cover it with coins, this is linking with the CAFOD theme-‘Turn Little Fish into Big Fish’, thinking about how little actions can make a really big difference to people living in poverty.
During the week Mr Hood will be undertaking Safe Guarding training.
We are also pleased to welcome visitors to view our school.
