Week Commencing 27th February 2017

I hope that everyone has had an enjoyable half term break.

It is good to travel to school in daylight and to hear the birds beginning to sing - heralding Spring we hope!

This week we are off timetable for PSHCE week; Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education week.

This year we are focussing on Children’s Rights. This is a theme which is also high of the agenda of the Edmund Rice Network, particularly with the work that the Christian Brothers are involved in at the United Nations in Geneva.

Throughout the week each class will be looking at all the 52 Rights and focussing on specific aspects.

During the week the whole school will be concentrating on being Healthy, as part of this all children and staff will start the day with a dance session led by Mr Ferris. Children will also be looking at Dental Health and Communication through Sign Language.

On Friday we will be concentrating on Article 28 ‘A Right to Education’ when all the children and staff are invited to dress up as their favourite book character to celebrate World Book Day on 2nd March.

This week we also have our Netball team out representing the school.

I am pleased to welcome the Edmund Rice team into school on Tuesday.
It is Shrove Tuesday on 28th February and we will hold our annual ‘Pancake Races’.

We have class photographs on Wednesday so will need everyone to come to school in correct uniform please.

Wednesday is also Ash Wednesday when we will be attending Mass. Father Rob will lead Mass commencing at 1-30pm, this be take place at St Teresa’s Church. Parents and Carers are most welcome to attend.

Swimming takes place as usual on Thursday for Prep 3 and Prep 4.

On Friday we will be celebrating World Book.

This week is also the start of Fair Trade Fortnight and as a Fair Trade school we will be thinking about this and linking it in to our Children Rights theme.
I am pleased to be showing visitors around the school throughout the week.

We are looking forward to a busy and enjoyable week.
