Head Teacher's Blog

Dec 08

Week Commencing 11th December 2017

What a Christmas filled day we have had as I wrote this Blog on Friday 8th December.

Not only have we had fun we have also given time to think very starkly about the real meaning of Christmas.

First thing this morning Mrs Weston brought the Posada figures into school, which we welcomed, with Mrs Parrish welcoming Mary and Joseph in Spanish, whilst the rest of the staff took the parts of the Pilgrims (Mary and Joseph) and the Innkeepers. Mary and Joseph then came to spend the rest of the day in my office in a quiet tranquil setting, lodged in candle light and quiet music. It made us all consider that Mary and Joseph were refugees and looked to the compassion of others in order to provide a place for the Son of God.

Our next pause for reflection was when our Head Boy, Head Girl, Miss Kent and I went to take our food collection to the ‘Open Door’ project. Lisa who meet us was very appreciative of all the donations we took - Thank you so much for your generosity.

Lisa told us that our donations will be used to, ‘Feed the hungry’.

Our final week in school is action packed!

On Monday we will be sharing our Advent Mass at St Teresa’s Church at 1-30pm. You are most welcome to attend.

On Tuesday we have our PTA Disco, starting immediately after school at 3-25pm and ending at 6pm. Children to be collected from the normal end of school collection points.

On Wednesday we have the Nursery Festive Fun afternoon starting at 1-45pm Nursery parents/grandparents and carers are most welcome to join us for this afternoon of Christmas Nativity and fun.

On Thursday the EYFS have ‘Christmas Jumper Day’, bring in £1.

On Thursday evening the Prep will be leading our Carol Service at Holy Trinity Church, Newcastle at 7pm. You are most welcome to attend this special service, based this year around the theme ‘The Word.’

On Friday the Pre Prep and Prep have their ‘Christmas Jumper Day’, bring in £1.

We have our Christmas film in the morning followed by a message from a special visitor- we hope!!

The EYFS are going to the New Vic for ‘Tale Trail’ at 1pm. Please send your child in with a healthy packed lunch. No chocolate or sweeties permitted.
School ends for the Christmas holiday today – Joe’s Club as usual. I look forward to seeing you all on 3rd January 2018!

May God richly bless you and your family this Christmas and into the new Year.

May I wish you a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.
