Week Commencing 23rd October 2017

What an exciting and educational week we have enjoyed during ‘Multi Cultural Week’.

We have been fortunate to have had some excellent presentation by parents from the school.

All the children enjoyed making sushi with Mr and Mrs Lam.Mr Bains came in and talked about the Sheikism and what that means to him.

Dr Segal came in to celebrate Divali.

Mrs Latif came in to demonstrate the use of henna.

Throughout the week children have had the opportunity to participate in music, art, cooking and language.

We always find that these specific weeks create a great deal of enjoyment, questioning, and hence learning.

We return to school on 30th October.

  • 31st October is the liturgical celebration (which begins at Vespers on the evening of 31 October of All Hallows' Eve or All Saints' Eve, and ends at the close of 1 November). It is the day before All Souls' Day, which commemorates the faithful departed.
  • On 31st October we will be focussing on the theme of ‘Hope’ as opposed to some of the more frightening and ghoulish practises which are around. Each class will be carving a pumpkin with symbols of Hope, Love, Joy, Peace.
  • On Thursday 2nd November the Prep Department will be out in Liverpool to visit the Cathedral and Museum.
  • On Thursday evening Mrs Moore and Mrs Dale will be attending a ‘Treasure Island’ workshop provided by the New Vic theatre. ‘Treasure Island’ is our theme for the term.

Arrangements for drop off and collection of the EYFS children are set to change slightly to ensure that the ‘busyness’ of the main entrance is minimised. A letter has been sent to all EYFS parents. Nursery children and their parents are now to use the side gate and side Nursery door to drop-off and collect. We thank all parents for their cooperation as we embed the EYFS 30 hours Government funding into our system.
I hope that you have an enjoyable half term and do manage a rest before the lead up to Christmas.
