Week Commencing 16 October 2017

Thank you to all the parents who attended Parents Evening for the Pre Prep and Prep.

We had fun last week as we began our Conker competitions; these continue this week as we look to find the overall Conker champion.

This being October and Mary’s month we are giving the children the opportunity to say the Rosary, some children have brought in their own Rosary beads, others have used some of the beautiful beads we have at school to join in with our Rosary group. This is an ongoing time of devotion throughout October.
This week is Multi Cultural week where we come ‘off-timetable’ to deliver this aspect of our curriculum. This year we are looking at Music, Art, Language andCooking across a number of cultures.

We are pleased to welcome into school a number of our parents to talk about their beliefs and culture. Mr Bains will be talking to us about Sheikism. Dr Segal will be talking about Buddhism, Mrs Latif about Islam and for the first time we are pleased to welcome Mr Lam, from Miso Restaurant on London Road to demonstrate to the children how Japanese food is prepared. We are very grateful to all these parents for their time and commitment in coming in to talk to the children.

Every morning throughout the week Miss Gerrard will do a session with each department leading us in some Indian theme dancing.
We are set to have an informative and fun week; the children are always very enthusiastic and lots of learning and interaction is set to take place throughout the week.

On Tuesday we are very pleased to welcome Prep 4 parents into school for the P4 assembly. This begins at 3pm and is in the school Hall.

On Wednesdays we have the EYFS Parents Workshop at 7pm. This time we are focussing on reading and phonics.

On Thursday we have our PTA film night which starts immediately after school. Children will be supervised by staff. This time the film is The EMOJI Movie. Tickets are to be purchased in advance at a cost of £6 which includes pizza and a drink. Additional snacks and drinks will be on sale prior to the movie. Children will be dismissed in the usual fashion from the playground at 6pm. please note that there will be no extra-curricular clubs on Thursday 19th October due to Film night.

On Friday the ‘Little Library Van’ is coming to school for the EYFS to go and enjoy exploring reading. The van will park on the staff carpark.

During Whole School assembly, Tom Murray – the Edmund Rice Youth Development officer - will be coming to talk to the children about Vocations.

The school breaks for half term on Friday. We return to school on 30th October.
I trust that you manage to have a break and ‘recharge the batteries’ before the run up to Christmas.
